KIDDIE BEACH CLEANUP - MAY 12, 2006

More activity photos have been posted at:
http://punzalane.multiply.com/photos/album/39
The Batang Sayantists flocked to the San Teodoro, Mabini Beach last Saturday, May 12, 2007 for the FIRST BSCPI KIDDIE BEACH CLEANUP. Armed with sacks, tongs, gloves and determination, they hit the San Teodoro beach with impunity to collect plastic bags and bottles, shampoo sachets and other kinds of nonbiodegradable trash.

A group of TMA HOMESCHOOLERS, accompanied by their parents, teamed up with the BSCPI Kids in picking assorted trash washed ashore onto the beaches.

The activity is part of BSCPI's efforts in sending the message that it's never too early for kids (and not too late for some adults) to be educated on pollution, environmental stewardship, ecology, conservation, etc.

BSCPI also appreciates the participation of Ms. Abby Cabanilla et al (PROJECT EDEN).

BSCPI is grateful to Mr. Joel Uichico (SOLANA BEZO RESORT) for the use of MV BOO-TI-KI and the resort speedboat during the event and for the use of the resort facilities. Thanks also to Doc Yobs, Dr. Mario Festin and Dr. Marissa Noel for the giveaways/raffle prizes.

MANILA YOUTH SCIENCE CLUB COUNCIL and BSCPI DISCUSSED COOPERATION.
Laurence Bautista recently met with Dr. Eric Punzalan , BSCPI founder, to discuss MYSC affiliation with the Batang Sayantist Club. The proposal was welcomed by BSCPI as a positive development. "We should be able to reach more kids with this tieup. MYSC's network will be extremely valuable towards achieving our common goal of promoting science among the FIlipino youth.", said Doc Eric. The Manila Youth Science Council consists of representatives from the various school science clubs in Metro Manila.
